During the breeding season, we come quite often against this situation where we have to take one or all eggs away from a parent. Over the years, we had quite a few eggs damaged by doing so until we come up with this device in the following pictures.
The birds seem to usually not worry about the piece of plywood at all as the birds defense system is mainly triggered by sight. Even though you touch the feet of the bird, because they don’t see you, it usually doesn’t bother them.
It has made our egg handling a lot easier during the breeding season!
